Simply put everything about Verde is fantastic. Located on First Street just a block north of Fillmore, Verde is a welcome addition to the up and coming restaurant district in downtown Phoenix. Upon walking into the new haunt you will notice that the establishment lives up to its namesake, a good portion of the materials including the building it’s housed in have been repurposed making Verde truly green! The menu at Verde features fresh handmade Mexican food; in fact it’s so fresh you can watch the tortillas being hand rolled in front of your eyes or from the sidewalk via the big picture windows. These chef’s have nothing to hide but their soon to be cult classic recipes.
Verde serves up delish dishes morning, noon, and night. Keep that in mind when you get tired of waiting down the street at that famous downtown breakfast joint. Pop into Verde for some yummy chilaquiles with eggs or a scrumptious breakfast burrito. Take your lunch break south of the border and enjoy the oregano chicken, tender and juicy on the inside with crispy, perfectly seasoned skin on the outside. Looking for a fire breathing experience around dinnertime? One bite of the green chile pork will definitely have you huffing and puffing, with a satisfied smile of course. The green chile pork is Verdes signature dish and you will have to stop yourself from telling everyone you know about it. All dishes at Verde are do it yourself, served with house made tortillas that are rolled by hand, and are fresh every day. The menu items come complete with steamy rice and tasty black beans that get smothered in a yummy sauce, good enough to be a meal of their own.
Stop into Verde today and say “Hi” to the friendly owners who are always around to answer questions and humbly except compliments. With the casual order at the counter atmosphere, the food really has the spotlight, and everyone will see it shine.
