When the word Jungle comes to mind, many of us find ourselves thinking about monkeys swinging from trees, green canopies overhead and the occasional oversized bug or six. Rarely do we find ourselves thinking about hummus and taboule. At least not until now, that is. Pita Jungle will forever keep fresh Mediterranean on the brain when associating the word jungle it is just that good. The local chain has, in recent years, built a location in Mesa, on Southern and Dobson, just a skip away from the Light Rail stop on Sycamore and Main. Pita Jungle seamlessly melds different worlds of style together under one roof, the big open spaces and walls covered with local artists work, make even the most un-cool Dad (think, The Hoff) look impossibly modish while eating his Shawarma. If you have never experienced Mediterranean cooking before, pita jungle is a great place to get your feet wet. It is incredibly fresh, herby, and airs on the light side of things if you are trying to keep up a girlish figure. Some classic dishes include hummus which is a chick-pea puree with garlic and olive oil, pitas piled high with chicken and veggies, and of course you can’t miss the Pita Jungle’s classic Greek salad chock full of beautiful olives, tomatoes, cumber on green lettuce with big chucks of Feta cheese and a great Greek dressing. Pita Jungle also has classics such as wood fire pizzas, healthy burgers and, delicious combination platters with roasted garlic potatoes and oven roasted chicken for starters. Smoothies, house made desserts, and brunch on the weekends, round out the shining reasons why you cannot skip a healthy meal here. Pits Jungle has captured many an award and a heart in the Valley, they are a few years shy of celebrating almost 20 years in the valley. A dream that drew three friends away from jobs in broadcasting and engineering, to pursue the love of fresh healthy food in a relaxing fun atmosphere, is the dining populations gain, take yourself, your kids, and your mother-in-law, everyone will fall in love with something at Pita Jungle. Award winning wine lists, delicious fresh food in a cool space, take a walk on the wild side, Pita Jungle will not bite, promise.
