Inexpensive, quick, quality, filling, and true to the taste of authentic Mexican food is what Filiberto’s delivers to its customers. Placed on the corner of Dorsey and Apache in Tempe, Filiberto’s only runs its delightful restaurant in three states California, New Mexico, and of course Arizona. Filiberto’s opened its first restaurant in Arizona in 1993. Although there are several locations throughout the Phoenix area, (seven restaurants in Tempe) this particular location is a walk-up/drive through only style making it very unique!
There is parking available for those who chose to walk-up with an outside cement bench style seating near the ordering window. The menu is displayed above the ordering window which stretches across the length of the front side of the building. Like any fast food restaurant drive-thru, it moves along at a rapid speed, plus Filiberto’s doubles the speed by eliminating the hassle of a long driveway. Since Filiberto’s is a smaller restaurant customers order from one side of the building and pick up on the opposite side. If drive through and walk-up still isn’t fast enough, phone orders are also welcome at Filiberto’s.
If you think the most popular fast food places have you in and out and on your way, wait until you experience the skills of this two to three man operation. A chef or two in the back working the grill or deep fryer while orders are taken with timeliness and without error! This is a great place to grab a late night meal without having to extend your bedtime. Peering in through the ordering window there is a tidy kitchen, fresh ingredients, and thirst quenching exotic Mexican juices (Horchata, Jamaica, Tamarindo, and Peña) which will calm any sweet tooth before spoiling your main meal.
With nearly one hundred items to consume it is hard to believe that each selection is fewer than ten dollars, as well as the combination plates that include rice and beans. The pescado or fish taco is a good indulgence if yearning a light quick snack. It is one of my personal favorites. The fish is fried and placed in a flour tortilla with cabbage, tartar sauce, and pico de gallo. Other popular items are the carne asada burrito which includes diced steak, guacamole, and pico de gallo as well as the beef, chicken, or cheese enchiladas. Whether it is a late night out, on a budget, on the go, or you simply would like to enjoy the essence of true Mexican food Filiberto’s can fulfill all of your hunger needs.
