Quaint? Check. Lunch and Dinner? Check. A quick walk from the Light Rail? Check.
A Thirty-hour wait for delicious pizza that Oprah ate? Nope.
These are precisely the reasons why no one can stop talking about Cibo Urban Pizzeria. That and the wonderful service, outstanding wine list, Authentic Italian style cuisine, and if we are being honest, I know a number of people who would live on their patio with the twinkly lights if someone were to supply snuggies, and a steady helping of pies. It is beautiful.
Chef Guido Saccone literally turns everything he touches to gold. The chef, who is originally from Tuscany, but found his way to Phoenix after following his heart stolen by a lovely local, is very good at what he does. The long and short of their love story is that it is very sweet and we should all be grateful to her for donating such an asset to the valley. Now, we can all enjoy her husband’s wonderful cooking. I am going to send her a thank you card.
Inside the charming downtown Phoenix bungalow, you will find yourself feeling at home with stained glass windows and a fireplace. It is almost impossible to go wrong with anything on the menu, unless you do not like cheese, in which case I am so sorry for you. The antipasto plates are intricately simple and the flavors meld together perfectly, the pizzas are thin and crispy with bubbly cheese and have the freshest handpicked toppings available, made to order and fired in a scorching oven. If all the impeccably chosen imported cheese and wine do not woo you into a food induced love affair, desert certainly will. Although like all good things, this is not available to go.
Cibo brings a little piece of Italian entertaining to the desert by offering an inviting place to come, sit, and enjoy food and life. It is rare to find a restaurant so inviting, humbled by their success, and welcoming of everyone to walk through the door. The patio is perfect for family gatherings, or a lovely night out with friends. Gentlemen, this is indeed second date insurance if you are taking notes. And, you should be taking notes. Just saying.
