The Everything Bagel is a work of art, one that Chompie’s bakers mastered in 1979 when they opened their doors in Arizona. Hailed as the Valley’s New York deli, Chompie’s does more than just bagels, filling their display cases each morning with salads and mouthwatering pastries, it is truly a one-stop shop. Located about a ten-minute walk from the Light Rail stop at Rural and University, Chompies serves breakfast all day along with mile high sandwiches and other deli specials at lunchtime. If you are visiting from the east coast, or are a transplant from the Atlantic side of things, Chompie’s is sure to please your craving for a taste of home. Chompie’s is known across the Valley for their great New York style bagels, generously topped with schemer if you so desire. The counter at the front makes it easy to snag one before class or as a mid-day snack. If you are feeling generous, you can even grab a dozen or so for the household to nosh on all week long. If time allows grab a paper and enjoy a leisurely breakfast with a few of the Chompie’s regulars. The pancake choices alone are enough to make your head spin. However, once you taste how great everything is the menu will keep you coming back for more. If you are a Travel Channel junkie, you may have seen a recent episode of Man vs. Food, which featured the Jewish Slider Challenge at Chompies. For readers who do not know, a Jewish Slider is a sweet spongy challah roll topped with brisket, potato pancake and jack cheese with a side of savory brown gravy. The challenge includes 12 of these and a pleasing side of onion strings that must be consumed in less than thirty minutes. If you think you are up for the challenge, take a couple days to fast, because just a regular order of these little guys is filling enough! Chompie’s never fails to impress whether with the veggie packed Matzo Ball soup, or the free breakfast you get on your Birthday. Just a bagel sandwich to go in the morning is a sure fire way to get your day started on the right track. Follow the bagel bakers on twitter or become a friend of theirs on Facebook and earn awesome coupons like a two for one entree just for showing your love. Family owned and operated in the valley is hard to come by these days, support a great local business, the coffee tastes better when you care who makes it. |
